Real Men's Saving Soap

This is a great shaving soap for men (or women) that has kaolin clay which is gentle on sensitive skin and shea butter which creates moisture. You can purchase through my Etsy store.

Real Men's Shaving Soap

Ingredients

507g Olive Oil
507g Vegetable Oil
435g Coconut Oil
70g Shea Butter
201g Lye
543g Distilled Water
1/2 cup Kaolin Clay (Kaolin clay is for sensitive skin and Bentonite clay is for oily skin)
30ml essential oil for fragrance (optional)

Method

For first time or inexperienced soap makers I recommend my Soap Making Tutorial.

Measure out your oils (except essential oil) in a stainless steel bowl and then put on gas stove on low until all the oils are melted. You can do this in a microwave in a plastic bowl if you don't have a gas stove.
Measure out the clay, essential oil and water. I always leave the lye till the minute when I'm going to use it to avoid accidents or other people touching it.
When oils are melted together, take the temperature and wait until it's around 140/150F.
When you hit this temperature measure out your lye and add your water.
The temerpature should be the same as the oils.
Once the oils and the lye are around 100F (anywhere between 95F - 125F is fine) pour lye into oils and use hand blender to blend for around 15-20 minutes until you hit "trace".
Once you hit trace take out a cup or two (250-500ml) of the soap mixture and put it in a clean stainless steel bowl.
Add your clay to this mixture and whisk until mixed through.
Add back to soap mixture and mix through well.
Add you essential oils and then pour into mold.
Place a layer of freezer paper on top of your mold and then cover with a towel.
Leave for 18-24 hours before removing from mold.
Let cure for 3+ weeks.
